Job 23:10 (KJV) The Testimony of the Believer

Job 23:10 (KJV)
But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
Behold the testimony of the believer.
Job began this discourse by saying that the groaning his friends witnessed was lighter than the stroke he had experienced. When a man is in great pain it may be that grace allows him to show it less than is reality but perhaps not hide it altogether. When we suffer it is reasonable to express it. We do not have to exaggerate it.
Job was in no position to meet God and plead for the suffering to stop. He had prayed, we are sure. There was little else he could do about his circumstances.
What he did do was trust.
  • He trusted God to know
  • He trusted God’s trial to be righteous and
  • He trusted that it would reap a benefit
