Psalms 57:5 (KJV) At Liberty

Psalms 57:5 (KJV)
Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.
David describes his situation previous to this verse with the words, “My soul is among lions” and in the following verse as, “They have prepared a net for my steps.” This is a dangerous time in his life. He is surrounded physically and emotionally but he is at liberty spiritually. His highest concern is that, through all of this, God is exalted.
The believer will find his greatest liberty not in financial freedom or even in political liberty but in soul liberty. When the Christian lives so that God is glorified, he lives his most fulfilling life.
We all could wish for freedom from enemies and freedom from fear. We would love to be free of trouble and free of stress. These will surely be short lived in this world. Freedom between the believer and God – this is a treasure that need never be removed from us.
