1 Corinthians 3:5 (KJV) But Ministers

1 Corinthians 3:5 (KJV)
Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?

It would be wise if both the ministers and the ministered to keep in mind that we are all “but ministers.”

This is not to say the minister should not be:
  • Respected, his is a high office[1]
  • Compensated, he is worthy of double honor[2]
  • Obeyed, he watches for your soul[3]

But he must never be worshipped.

[1]Romans 11:13 (KJV)
For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
[2]1 Timothy 5:17 (KJV)
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
[3]Hebrews 13:17 (KJV)
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
