Psalms 63:1-2 (KJV)
A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

This Psalm was written by David in a time of flight, whether from Saul or from Absalom we cannot property tell. It reminds me of 2 Samuel 23:15
And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate! 

Perhaps it is on this occasion he penned these magnificent words.

Whatever the occasion he was away from the sanctuary. He was removed from regular worship and longed for it as he would water.

We live in such a day where souls claim to be believers but are content to worship in the desert places of life. For whatever reasons they have found themselves outside the sanctuary of a New Testament church and are happy with their case.

Paul and the rest of the apostles gave their lives to take the gospel where is was not and to establish new churches where there was none.

Something is wrong in the soul when a Christian willingly chooses the desert rather than the sanctuary.
