Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.

Psalms 83:4 (KJV)

They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

It seems as if the majority of the world has joined up with the children of Lot to destroy the memory of Israel from I’m off the face of the earth. In my estimation one of the clearest indications of the reality of God is, that nation, that was set apart by Him, has been so hated in the world. 

In the Psalmist’s day it was led by the children of Lot, a people related to and in their own land because of Abraham. The fight with Israel is not by those who were dispossessed by Israel, for they live where they do for the same reason Israel lives where they live. This fight is deeper. It is spiritual. 

In modern history it has been the Russians, the Egyptians, the Germans, and peoples from all traces of Europe that have taken their place with the children of Lot. Only a handful of nations have been their friends, and most of those not altogether sold out. 

This thing seems to me most certain. Only those who support Israel may prosper in the eyes of God.
