Proverbs 3:8 (KJV)
It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

The Bible is a precise book and, at the same time, beautiful. No word is used accidentally or carelessly. These are the very words of God and not merely the word (or thought) of God.

To fear the Lord and to depart from evil is said first of all to be:
Health to thy navel
The word health means, a cure. It was considered the central place of our organs and would refer to the bowels, the seat of our person. The cure for the soul is the fear of the Lord.

Marrow to thy bones
Of course the marrow is the living part of our bones. The Hebrew word means, moisture or refreshment. Our bones frame our body. This could be a reference to our character, the measure of a man.

When we get saved two things happen. First, we are justified. Our spirit is quickened and or soul is cured. Second we begin a process of being sanctified. God separates us from the world and molds us into the image of the Lord. These two are, to my understanding, implied in our Proverb.
