Hebrews 5:8-9 (KJV)
Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

I think it is Gill who writes, “it cannot be supposed” that concerning Jesus, He was not obedient in eternity prior to His suffering. Neither can it be supposed that He was not perfect prior to being made perfect. In His Cross perfection was perfected. The perfect Son of God, gave His life for sinners, perfecting the perfect plan of God and by it became our perfect Saviour.

Prior to His Cross God had a perfect plan of salvation. That plan was finished in the death, burial and resurrection. Prior to the cross Christ was a perfect sacrifice for our sins. That sacrifice was accomplished, completed, perfected in the death, burial and resurrection.
