Isaiah 5:21 (KJV) The One Who Is Wise In His Own Eyes

Isaiah 5:21 (KJV)
Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
I have a pretty good idea about what this verse means. It would be wise, though, to understand it in its context. The one who is wise in his own eyes:
Has become desensitized to sin
Isaiah 5:18
Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:
He has sinned little by little almost imperceptibly, until the cords of sin are too strong for him to break.
Has become calloused to the judgment of God.
Isaiah 5:19
That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it:and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!
I am reminded of Peter’s prophecy “Where is the promise of His coming?[1]
Has become twisted in his conscience
Isaiah 5:19
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
I have known people who would rather applaud wickedness than righteousness.
Has become accustomed to spirits
Isaiah 5:22
Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
Alcohol is called a Spirit for a reason. There is no question that the Bible teaches the abstinence of strong drink. A telling sign today is in how many so called Christians approve of the drinking of alcohol. It is a defiance against God and a demonstration that they think they know better than God.
Has become blind morally
Isaiah 5:23
Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
Lawmakers now justify what is opposed to God and count Christians as potential threats.

[1]2 Peter 3:4 (KJV)
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
