Revelation 5:1 (KJV)
And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.
And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.
I have read that, in the earliest days of our county, paper was so valuable that most people tended to fill every piece of the paper before moving on to another. I’ve not seen a lot of those old letters but they must have been difficult to read, trying to figure out where the two or three words in a corner belonged in a progression of thought.
They say that most writing in apostolic days would have been on a roll. In that case it was unusual to write on the back side of the roll. It would likely only have been done if they had run out of room or if something unexpected were added. God is in complete control and could have foreseen that the roll was large enough and, I am sure, would not have had an afterthought He had to include in an unusual place. That the book was written on the backside must be for our benefit. It is representative of something.
While I cannot be dogmatic, it seems to me that it indicates the fullness of the judgment of the seven seals. The process of the judgment of the tribulation is unrelenting. It fills every moment of time in the seven years. There are:
- No breaks
- No pauses
- No times for the sufferers to catch their breath and recoup.
The judgment of the Tribulation accomplishes all that it is meant to do. It does not end and it does not let up:
- Until the every soul that can be saved is saved
- Until the Gentiles have been judged to the fullest extent
- Until Israel as a nation turns to the Lord
- Until Jesus is situated on the throne in Jerusalem
I think what it means is that God’s Word is complete. There is no place left to add another chapter, another dispensation or another age. There is no place left to add the Book of Mormon or the Pearl of Great Price or the writings of the Jehovah’s Witnesses or the Muslims.
When God finishes The Revelation, He is finished.
