Exodus 9:20 (KJV)
He that feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses:
He that feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses:
It is worth noting that, even among the servants of Pharaoh, there were those who feared the word of the Lord. That Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, that the majority would not listen, did not mean that no one listened and heeded the Word of God. We are always best off when we focus on those who hear rather than those who do not.
Moses had warned of a terrible hail that would kill every living thing in its path. Man, cattle, beasts would all die if they did not find shelter. The grace of God allowed them to find shelter and be safe from the storm. But they had to accept that grace. They had to fear the Word of the Lord and obey it.
- · Those who did were saved
- · Those who regarded not the Word of God were slain
This is exactly how it is today. God warns, teaches, preaches and instructs. He graciously gives to us the means to escape[1]the troubles of life now and eternal judgment later. But He does not remove those troubles or judgment.
- · If we will fear the Word of the Lord and do it, we will find shelter despite the storm.
- · If we choose not to regard His Word we can expect to experience those storms in all their worst.

[1]1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
