1 Thessalonians 1:3 (KJV)
Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

This verse is closely tied to the previous, 1 Thessalonians 1:2
We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; 

Perhaps it is best to understand this as that he remembers them without ceasing in his prayers. On the other hand, it is an affectionate thing, a reassuring thing, a cheering thing, to think that someone such as Paul would remember them without ceasing. 

Through the thick of their oppression and persecution, as they stood fast for what they had received of God, Paul remembered them.
Regardless of the challenges he faced himself, and we know that Paul faced persecution of his own after leaving Thessalonica, he remembered them.
Night and day, peacetime and pressure time, Paul remembered them, and that without ceasing. 

Someone wrote that this must not be taken literally, but as a common expression. I disagree. I know some souls who never leave my heart and my thoughts. It matters not what else I am doing; these souls are so near to my mind that they can be on the surface at a moment. 

• My wife
• My children
• My parents
• My grandchildren 

It would be accurate to say I remember them without ceasing. 

Besides them, there is: 

• Mike Riggs, the man who first discipled me and 
• Dave Brown, the pastor who loved and accepted me

There are a few souls I remember without ceasing, longing for them to return to grace and
There are some I remember without ceasing because I know they are suffering intensely just now.
