Exodus 32:31-32 (KJV) Truly Praying

Exodus 32:31-32 (KJV)
And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.
Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.
Moses’ ministry toward Israel is a unique one. He served as:
  • Deliverer from Egypt,
  • Prophet of God,
  • Leader of the nation and, in this instance the
  • Shepherd of God’s flock
Fully aware of the sin of this people
Moses pled for them.
Acknowledging the magnitude of their sin
Moses asked God to forgive them.
Having been blamed for their troubles in the past
still, Moses asked God to blot out his name rather than their own.
This is truly praying on behalf of others.
