Exodus 33:8 (KJV)
And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, that all the people rose up, and stood every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the tabernacle.
It looks to me like there is more here than I am prepared to make comment on in my visit with God today.
The tabernacle was set a good distance outside the camp.
Did those most interested move their tents closer?
When Moses left the Tabernacle to turn again to the camp, Joshua stayed inside the tabernacle.
I would love to know what he was doing.
That which strikes me is this picture, as Moses made his way to the tabernacle, all the people got up, stood at their door and watched Moses enter into the tabernacle and the presence of God. Imagine the anticipation. These are the people of God. They have known that for hundreds and hundreds of years. But:
- Never has God dwelled with them in the way He was about to.
- Never has one spoken to Him in the way Moses was about to.
- Never had they heard from God as they were about to.
They stood and watched:
- Until the cloud rested upon the tabernacle,
- Until Moses had finished speaking with God and
- Until he returned to tell them what God said.
May all the people of God have a similar anticipation for their preacher:
- Rising up in outreach to God as he seeks to meet with God
- Standing in prayer and support of him as he hears from God and then
- Listening with Holy Spirit enables ears as he tells them the message of God
To my readers:
