Leviticus 1:8 (KJV) The Work of the Priest

Leviticus 1:8 (KJV)
And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat, in order upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:

Imagine the bloody work of the priest. By end of the day of slaughtering the animals, washing the inwards, separating parts and placing them on the altar they must have been a mess. Their feet must have been filthy. Their shoes and clothing must have been vile. No wonder they had special clothing for worship.

The priests represent not the preachers, but the believers.

What I came to see today is the hard “bloody” work of the day to day Christian, “hating even the garment spotted by the flesh[1].”
  • The worker blue collar or white, rubbing shoulders with unsaved and ungodly coworkers
  • The server working in the motels and the restaurants
  • The commuters on the roads with impatient and angry drivers
Every day the Christian serves as salt and light but at the same time is exposed to defilement and darkness

As a preacher, perhaps my most important duty is to pray for those who become so affected every day.

To my readers:

And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
