Philippians 3:17 (KJV)

Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

The Bible says in Romans16:17 

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 

The very same Apostle told us to mark those who cause divisions and offenses, and to mark them which walk according to his example. It is important to recognize those who are a problem to our faith. It is that much more important to identify those who are: 

• Obedient to the faith
• Followers of the faith
• Examples of the faith 
• Helpers of the faith

There is no doubt those who are divisive. But there are also those who “get it.” They are on board. They study the Word of God and they are happy to practice their faith according to that which their pastor and church teach.

Those are the people we ought first to mark. The others will, in most cases, mark themselves.
