David said furthermore, As the LORD liveth, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish.
I would never want to suggest any of us rank up with King David, but I would remind us all that David was just a man.
In his relationship with Saul, David operated under two principles:
- It was not right to touch the Lord’s anointed
- The Lord would address Saul in his own time and in his own way
Our oppressors are the Lord’s anointed
They belong to Him. He loves them as much as He loves us. To touch them, retaliate against them or return affliction upon them would be to hurt that which God loves.
The Lord will address their wrongs in His own time
2 Thessalonians says as much. If you are concerned that would only apply to the unsaved I would remind you too that judgment begins at the house of God. The Christian will surely not be punished as a lost man (damaged). But he will be chastened as a child (corrected).
Leave it in God’s hands. As difficult as that is and as much as you can see opportunities to take it into your own hands, it is God’s business. Leave it there.
To my readers:
First of all, thank you! It is a great joy to me to know you read the thoughts and lessons God has given me in His word. Secondly, I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to leave comments.
