Mark 5:25-26 (KJV) Only Worse

Mark 5:25-26 (KJV)
And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
The physicians of that day, just as in our day, were limited in skills, knowledge, and practice. Despite the physician’s sincere efforts, a patient may express earnest hope, spend countless hours, and invest all of their resources, only in the end, to grow worse.
But the lesson of the passage is in no way intended to dismiss the value of the medical profession. I think the physicians, in this case, serve to represent, among others:
  • Religion
  • Education and
  • Evolutionary science
In every case mankind has invested, hope, time and resources to their advancement and only found themselves to grow worse.
We have the proliferation of religions
Everything from Christian religions, to non-Christian eastern religions, to cult religions and occult religions exist and influence multitudes of people. But are we the better off for them? No. Humanity grows worse.
We have the most educated people in history
The things mankind has been able to do is a true wonderment. We have put men on the moon, cast our voices and then our images through the airwaves, created machines that compute formulae at lightning speeds. But mankind is not better off. A good look at the world tells us we grow worse.
The evolutionary scientist has nearly won the world to his theory of human existence
Despite the fact that the evolutionist: has no proof, disagrees with other evolutionists and makes claims that are fanciful beyond anything recorded in the Bible, but a few Bible believers still cling to the Biblical description of God’s creating the whole of existence in six literal days (and resting on the seventh). Evolution’s core tenant is that mankind has evolved from a lesser life and is evolving into a higher life. But is mankind better for these sentiments? No. We only grow worse.
This woman, in desperation, pushed her way past the throngs of people to reach out to Jesus. And she was healed. The lesson of the passage is that, only in a desperate reach to Christ, will men – and mankind, grow better.
