Acts 2:39 (KJV) A Promise for All

Acts 2:39 (KJV)
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Peter had said that every one of them ought to repent and be baptized. He said that those who did would receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Then he said that was because the promise is:
  • Unto you
  • To your children
  • To all that are afar off
  • As many as the Lord our God shall call.
Everyone ought to call upon the name of the Lord and be saved because the promise of salvation is for everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord to be saved.
I am not concerned about the phrase “as many as the Lord our God shall call” because He calls upon all to be saved. The gift of salvation is available to all and, when one has called upon the Lord, he realizes the Lord has been calling for him for a long time.
  • It’s not Calvinism’s extremity where some are called, and some are not.
  • It’s the Bible’s reality where all are called by the Holy Ghost and those who called upon the name of the Lord know it.
