Esther 8:9 (KJV)
Then were the king’s scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth day thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.

Do not miss the scope of the Babylonian empire. It covers “from India unto Ethiopia.” There were one hundred twenty-seven provinces in all. It’s all of the Middle East, and everywhere a Jew could have possibly lived at the time. What a powerful kingdom.
What a threat to the Jews. Should Haman have been successful he would not only have exterminated a region of Jews but the world of Jews. He would have destroyed the plan of God. He would have wiped out the seed from which God had determined, before the foundation of the world, to provide the Saviour.
Some Bible scholars like to point out that Hamann’s hatred goes back to Saul’s destruction of the Ammonites. They say that if Saul had obeyed God and killed them all, Haman, a descendant of the Ammonites, would not have existed to persecute the Jews. I say it goes back much farther. It goes back to Satan. Haman’s hatred was the devil’s hatred. Haman’s hatred was not merely a hatred for the people of Israel but a Satanic hatred for the promise of God.
As widespread, as worldwide as the threat was, God superintended. He always will.
