Isaiah 24:9 (KJV)
They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.
Though the advertising always associates the drinking of alcohol with a party:
- Songs
- Dancing
- Laughter and
- Friends
The fact of the matter is that the party never lasts. There will come a time when the people are gone, the music is quiet, the laughter has died down, and the booze is bitter.
I’m thinking right now of several well-known actors who have testified the very same. Though famous on the screen, their personal-private lives were a shambles. Their addiction to alcohol had become bitter to them, it had driven their family and friends away. It had nearly destroyed their careers.Better to leave the strong drink alone. Better to steer clear from the beginning. Better to find songs in the Lord, laughter with the people of God, and friends among the congregation of the righteous.
