Isaiah 59:21 (KJV)
As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.
Though the subject is Israel, I believe the context and timing are that of the present church era.
People from west to east will fear the Lord
Vs 19
The Redeemer shall come to Zion
Vs 20
God’s Spirit upon those who turn from their transgressions
Vs 21
This covenant is more than a “contract” two persons enter into. It is accepted by most Bible students to be such as the one God made with Abram whereby the duty was all upon God; Abram was in a deep sleep. In other words, it is the unconditional promise of God. It is what He covenants to do regardless of us.
It should be noted, however, that the “us” would only be those who have turned from our transgressions to Him.
