Ezekiel 7:7 (KJV)
The morning is come unto thee, O thou that dwellest in the land: the time is come, the day of trouble is near, and not the sounding again of the mountains.
There are three things, the Bible says will characterize the attitude of people when the judgment of God comes
- As in the days of Noe, they will eat drink and be merry
- There will be an attitude of “peace, peace when there is no peace” and
- They will mock the message of His coming saying all things continue
I think this verse is a reflection of the final one of these three
if not all three of them. There was a sound of judgment in the mountains. There was this feeling of foreboding. I think the picture of thunder and lightning in the mountains was meant to picture the prophecies of coming judgment. Did Judah come to the place where they heard the message without appropriate fear of the message?
God’s Word prophesies of a day when the message will be more than a warning. The judgment of God will come and not just be preached. Don’t scoff. Don’t ignore. Don’t hear with pleasure but not take heed.
Prepare for the day of the Lord.
