John 6:40 (KJV)
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
It is God’s will that Jesus loses none of those given Him.
It is also God’s will that they have everlasting life and that Jesus raises them up at the last day.
Notice the qualifications of those that are not lost, have everlasting life, and are raised up at the last day,
- They see the Son
- They believe on Him
No one truly believes on Jesus until they see Him as who He is; the crucified, buried and risen Son of God. The only begotten of the Father, the only propitiation for our sins, seated at the right hand of the Father, ever living to make intercession for us.
He must be to us more than a historical figure. He must be more than a doctrine. He must be the living, powerful, and ever-present Saviour, or else He is no one to believe on.
