It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his troop in the earth; he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name.
The gist of this passage is that God has designed the means of salvation.
He built the stories or the steps to God.
Fallen man, like Nimrod, have always sought their own way to heaven. Instinctively we know we come short of the glory of God. In the flesh, we want to prove we may attain that glory on our own.
He founded his troop in the earth.
The term encompasses all animate beings. The beasts of the field, the birds of the air, the creatures of the sea, the believer, and the unbeliever; are all the creation of God and will ultimately bow before Him.
He poured the waters upon the face of the earth.
It is a reference to the Flood. Barnes calls this, “that signal instance of its exercise on the ungodly, the flood, the pattern and type of judgments which no sinner escapes.”
I get the impression our world is nearing a “showdown” between the forces of men and the Almighty God.
I sure wouldn’t want to be on the wrong side when it comes.
