For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
It would be completely inappropriate to take this passage to mean that doctrine does not matter. A careful reading of this chapter, together with a survey of the general teaching of Scripture, tells us otherwise.
- We are to separate from those with whom we have doubtful disputations.
- We are to be fully persuaded in our own minds
- We are to have faith and whatsoever is not of faith is sin
What we do learn in this passage is to allow each one to be fully persuaded in their own mind. If one does not agree, it is not ours to go to war with them. But neither is it ours to compromise for them. There are plenty of souls with whom our faith agrees. Receive those into fellowship with whom we can fellowship. Remove from fellowship those with whom we cannot.
And then, live in righteousness, peace, and joy of the Holy Ghost.
