Exodus 5:22 (KJV) The Test of Faith

Exodus 5:22 (KJV)

And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me?

It’s a bit surprising to see Moses’s reaction since God had told him Pharaoh would not listen. This is simply human nature. We tend to ignore those things we would rather not hear. We tend to focus on those things we would rather not go through. Moses disregarded God’s word about Pharaoh but blamed God when things got hard.

That old adage “it may get worse before it gets better” is very often true. It was quite true in Israel’s case. They believed when they heard the Lord had visited them[1] , but they complained when they found out the consequences.[2]

This is often the test of faith.

  • We have hope for a cure
  • We discover the cure is very trying
  • We complain about the cure and forget the disease

Trust God through the troublesome times. He has a grand cure when it’s over.
