This is the law of the plague of leprosy in a garment of woollen or linen, either in the warp, or woof, or any thing of skins, to pronounce it clean, or to pronounce it unclean.
In the time of this writing leprosy was a general term used, I think, for any number of contagious germs. In this chapter we see it in the skin, the scalp, the plaster of a house, or the fabric of clothing and blankets.
It was priests who were appointed to examine and determine whether a suspicious spot was leprosy or not. That leads me to think that priests served, in some respects as medical experts. Mind you, it may not have been every priest who served in these responsibilities. There were eventually hundreds of priests, each with differing duties. I see them here serving as general physicians, making the original diagnosis and turning it then over to more specialized priests to make the final determination. I see some of them working as experts in disease control, inspecting molds in houses, furniture, cookware, and fabrics.
An implication, at least in my mind, is that no one can be an expert in disease control or cure without faith in God and dependence upon His Word for guidance.
Perhaps if our current “experts” placed faith in God they could make more reasonable judgments concerning the current COVID.
