Deuteronomy 4:7 (KJV) So Great A Nation

Deuteronomy 4:7 (KJV)

For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?

The following verse reads, Deuteronomy 4:8 (KJV)
And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?

There has been no greater nation than Israel.[1]

  • They had God near them
  • They had God to call upon and
  • They had righteous statutes and judgments

The United States of America cannot and does not replace Israel, but we can consider the history of our nation as great, and we may continue to consider her great so long as she remains near to God, seeks Him, calls upon Him for blessing, and clings to His righteous standards and judgments.

Our nation is no longer great when she turns away from Him.

[1] Remember, at this point in their history they didn’t even possess a land.
