Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.
Making peace made war.
One would have thought the five kings could see the danger of their decision. Gibeon was deceitful with Israel, but they were not wrong. Now that they had made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel, they became the target.
Making peace with Joshua (whose name means Jehovah is salvation and is synonymous with Jesus) and the children of Israel (whose name means God prevails) meant having war with the people of the world.
This holds true to our very day. Making peace with God through Jesus Christ means the people of the world are at odds with us. They will come in force. They will come with great leaders. They will come with haste. They are truly enemies of Jesus, but they know they can’t get to Him, so they try to get to us.
Our recourse is simple; call out to “Joshua” for help. I do not see where Gibeon was in the fight at all. Joshua came immediately, came with great force, and came until the threat was exterminated.
It’s time once again for those who have made peace with God through Jesus to call out for help. The enemies have mounted. They’ve gathered their numbers. They have established leaders in high places.
Come Jesus. Come and help us!
