Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.
Goliath seemed so big, so fierce, so powerful.
Israel shuttered at the thought of fighting him.
The Philistines trusted in him, believing they were safe behind his bravado.
The shepherd boy, the father of Jesus, took him on and defeated him without a match.
And the Philistines fled.
It matters not how big, and fierce, and powerful the giants of this world appear to be. It is of little concern how loudly they speak or how they puff their chests. The Lamb of God that taketh the away the sin of the world will quickly appear as the Lion of the tribe of Judah.
Then, all those who believe they are safely hidden, trusting in the wisdom of this world, will flee.
Once their champion is dead, and he will die, they will flee.
