And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,
Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.
I would like to entertain for a moment the consideration that there is a difference between reasoning out of the Scriptures and preaching.
Reasoning out of the Scriptures could be viewed as teaching, outlining, expounding, and expositing the Word of God.
The Bible says he did that for three days. It takes a great deal of time and patience to show people what the Bible says rather than what they think it says. Some people have been taught what they supposed was the Bible without ever actually looking in the Bible. Thus, they think they know. They do not know.
Preaching is something entirely different.
Preaching is not specifically the exposition of the Word of God. Preaching is making declarations concerning what we know from the Word of God.
Paul said he preached Christ. Then, after teaching them what the Word of God says, he declared to them Jesus Christ as its fulfillment.
Likely a strongly sound message spends most of its time reasoning, followed by a solid declaration of what that means in our world today.
