And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.
Can you imagine?
- Felix believed Paul’s testimony enough as to tell others about him
- Felix believed Paul’s testimony enough to hear him multiple times
- Felix believed Paul’s testimony enough to treat him fairly
- Felix believed Paul’s testimony so much he trembled at righteousness, temperance and judgment to come
But Felix did not believe enough to trust Christ.
The world is filled today with this sort of unbelieving believer. They believe just enough to accept it but not enough to trust Christ alone for salvation, accept it but not as enough to be inconvenienced by it.
I’ve heard people debate whether Felix ever got saved. I am convinced the same debate could be argued against all the unbelieving believers of our day.
They are unbelieving believers.
