Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.
I understand this passage to refer to the judgment at the end of the Tribulation when Jesus divides the sheep from the goats. Multitudes of people who have survived will come face to face with the Lord.
I see the symbolism of beating pruning hooks into spears to represent the uselessness of their contest against the judge. There is no contest. It is the mere voice of Christ that defeats them.
- They will assemble
- They will gather around mighty leaders
- They will come with whatever weapons they may devise
But in the end every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord.
There is only one way to win in the valley of decision.
This is to surrender to Jesus Christ.
