Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.
It is interesting to me that three times the book of Daniel contrasts the wisdom of the wise men with that of Daniel. Daniel never did claim such knowledge, always giving that glory to God. But other people certainly did recognize in Daniel
- An excellent spirit
- Knowledge
- Understanding
- Interpretating of dreams
- Shew of hard sentences and
- Dissolving of doubts
I’ve met plenty of Christians who have an arrogant attitude. This, in my opinion, is to be shunned with extreme prejudice. On the other hand, there is a sort of confidence, born of the Holy Spirit of God within the Christian, that need never be shown off, but is always apparent to those around us.
Years ago, I heard of a preacher whose building had caught on fire. The damage was devastating. When the congregation gathered to see the destruction, and as they grieved and wondered what they would do, their pastor began to sing, softly, and then ever more loudly, “Everything’s All Right, In My Father’s House.” In a few moments the congregation was singing along with him and a spirit of rejoicing swept over these children of God.
A Bible believing Christian truly is “a dissolver of doubts.”
