Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
There are times of testing when, hearing these words of our Saviour become more than comforting but urgent. They become more than promises we hold to. They become matters of action. They become tools in our work belt. They become weapons in our war chest.
Such is the need of our day.
Prayer must be more than a religious practice in our circumstances. It must be effectual, fervent; it must avail much.
We are acutely aware of our own desperation. At the same moment we know that there are others in their own moments of desperation. They will not only look to us for our example but lean upon us for their support.
Right now, today,
- Asking
- Seeking
- Knocking
these are our mainstays.
