When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.
Jesus entered, and His disciples
The followers of Christ ought to follow where He goes
Jesus resorted there oftentimes with His disciples
That place where Jesus goes, we ought to go often
Jesus began this night in prayer
The other gospels tell us that.
Judas knew where the garden was
That the devil knows where Jesus is offers no excuse for our neglecting it
Judas brought the soldiers there
The place where Jesus goes is not necessarily a place of peace and rest
Disciples will respond to the troubles differently
Who would have expected Peter to cut off someone’s ear?
Jesus will care for His disciples through the trouble
We can trust Him for that.
The garden ends with a perfect sacrifice for sins forever
In the context of the gospels, these disciples composed what was the first New Testament Church.
They met often in this garden
I think I see in John Eighteen a New Testament Church service, even if it appears to be an unorthodox one.
