John 19:3 (KJV) The Cost of Sin

John 19:3 (KJV)

And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.

John said his hands had handled the Word of life[1]
It’s fellowship. It’s worship. It’s intimacy with the Lord. It’s the knowledge of Almighty God.

The woman touched the hem of His garment and was healed[2]
A need none other had helped and so long endured was met in a simple touch of her hand to Jesus’ garment.

The soldiers used their hands in an entirely different way
Cruel. Unprovoked. Unnecessary. Brutal.

All three are part of the gospel message and essential to the outcome of the gospel.

• Fellowship with God is necessary
• Answers to our needful prayers are necessary
• The difficult moments of our lives, the trials are equally necessary to the good outcome God has planned for us.

Never forget the original sin and its consequences. 

We must not bicker that God’s plan accounts for its cost.
