Thou hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.
Vs. 1-6
There are statements of fact contained within these verses not yet experienced in their fullest sense.
This does not mean the verses are untrue. The Psalmist is looking into the future, into the promised outcome of God.
Experienced truth
Vs. 7-20
His assurance of God’s promises encourages the believer through his experiences, however difficult they may be.
When we view the promises of God, though still future, as if they were as real as our experiences, the experiences begin to look small in comparison.
