And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
The passage must be taken together with,
Romans 5:3-5 (KJV)
And not only so,but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
It works like this,
Tribulation+patience+experience+hope=love
Or else
Tribulation=patience=experience=hope=love
- Tribulation= pressure, burden, affliction
- Patience= endurance, constancy
- Experience= tested, trustiness, proof
- Hope= expectation, confidence
- Love= affection, benevolence
The end goal through the trials we endure as believers is that we confidently give ourselves to the Holy Ghost so that He might be gracious to others.
We suffer so that God can prove His care for us and then use us to provide His care to another.
