O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.
I read this passage on. Sunday morning and note the invitation twice given, “O come…”
“O come…”
Let us sing.
“O come…”
Let us make a joyful noise.
“O come…”
Let us worship.
“O come…”
Let us bow down.
“O come…”
Let us kneel before the LORD.
As I understand it, there are two different Hebrew words used.
- The first, in verse one means to walk
- The second, in verse six, means to abide
We actively sing and make a joyful noise to the Lord, but we patiently abide when we bow ourselves and worship.
Come to the house of the Lord. Be diligent to be there.
Then come prepared to quiet your soul in His presence.
