For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
I find it interesting that this covenant is specifically for Israel and Judah. While I believe it finds its fulfillment in the New Testament local church,[a] the Word of God points the finger to Israel as if to say, “Pay attention I’m speaking to you.”
The old law had faults.
It was not perfect in that it was not complete. Christ is the completion of the law.
The old covenant is – old.
Listen up Israel! Listen up Judah! The new covenant that was fulfilled in Christ[1] has made the old covenant without power and effect. It is ready now to vanish away.
It’s not just the Gentile who comes to Christ by faith and serves Christ in the local church, it’s for the house of Israel to do the same. It’s for the house of Judah to do the same.
There is a new man now. He is made up of both Jews and Gentiles. All men, Jews, and Gentiles, should be saved. Salvation for all men is only through Jesus Christ. Christ wills all the saved to come out of the old life and join the new man in Christ.[2]
