Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.
Proverbs 8:6-9 provide these descriptors of the wisdom of God’s Word:
- Excellent
- Right
- Truth
- Righteousness
- Plain
Excellent
“Of great value or superior attainment.” The Hebrew word is related to the concept of a commanding officer. They’ve reached their level of authority by reason of their competence. Consider the value of God’s commandments and the benefits that those who have adhered to them have reaped.
Truth
“Stable and trustworthy.” Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines it as “conforming to fact and reality.” It is in direct opposition to a lie, which is has no basis upon hard evidence. God’s Word has proven time and again to be based on reality where the theories of science falsely so called[1] floats on the ever-changing ideas of men.[2]
Plain
“Open, sincere, and frank.” The Hebrew word means “straightforward and correct.” It is spoken with integrity. So often those who disagree with the preaching of God’s Word attack the integrity of the speaker. More and more often they are bold to challenge the integrity of the Bible and even of Almighty God, who gave us the Bible.
I am glad that God, in His righteousness, is patient and willing to forgive and save all who will come to Him by faith.[3]
