And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
It is becoming increasingly clear to me how the Antichrist will be able to raise an army to fight against Almighty God.
It’s my observation that, ever since the Scope’s Monkey Trial, where secularism seemed to have successfully mocked the Christian faith, unbelievers have become bolder with the passing of years in their mockery.
· They feel like they can confidently classify Christ with the false gods of this world.
· They feel like they can confidently scientific solutions to the deepest of human problems, and thus replace God
· They feel like they can confidently assume there is no future judgment.
Judgment.
That’s the rub!
If God is then judgment is.
And they are angry at the thought of judgment.
I notice, in our text, that the armies of heaven are seen to be wearing white robes, but Jesus is shown to be battle ready. Though this picture is prophetic, I believe it is also instructive. It is not our place to wear the robes of the warrior so much as our place to stand behind the great Lion of the Tribe of Judah. We are an army. But to only one who has the right to have “blood on His Sword” is Jesus.
No wonder the lost of the world are defensive and angry at Jesus.
· Out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword
· He shall rule with a rod of iron and
· He treadeth the wine press of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God
The lost and unsaved of the world fight because they refuse to surrender. They fight because they think they can win.
I know where faith really rests. Faith rests in that, in the end, God wins.
That faith leads to genuine surrender.
