Genesis 14:22 (KJV)

And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,

 

Abraham was a man and just a man at that. The Bible at no time attempts to make him out to be a saint. But Abraham is a man of incredible character, the father of our faith, and an amazing example. 

·       An example of peacemaking in wanting no strife between he and Lot

·       An example of humility in giving Lot his choice

·       An example of unconditional love in going out to save Lot when he was captured

·       An example of strength in having the means to defeat the captors

·       An example of charity in giving tithes to Melchizedek

·       An example of godly separation and contentment in refusing the gifts of the king of Sodom

 

Abraham was a man and just a man at that. As such, we have no excuse to be less the man than he.
