Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)
Christianity is a matter of faith, but it is not a blind faith. We have the evidence of historical accounts recorded in the Bible. We have the evidence of scientific principles in Scripture, later proven accurate. We have the evidence of fulfilled prophecies, so detailed they cannot be ignored. We have the testimony of the original witnesses to Christ’s resurrection, none of whom denied it, even on pain of death.
The apostles, like Peter, John, and Paul, certified that their witness was true. Paul emphasized that his apostleship was not of or by men, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father. We have evidence, and we have testimonies. We do not follow a blind faith, but we must accept this evidence by faith because we did not see the Red Sea part. We did not witness the sun and moon stand still. We were not there to see Christ walk on water, be crucified, or rise from the grave. (Remember, there were people who saw these things and still didn’t believe.)
So, what is faith, really? Faith is accepting that the logic of man, even our own minds, is subservient to the testimony of God. It comes down to this: will we believe men, or will we believe God?
But make no mistake—we all believe in someone or something. That someone or something is our god.
