Philippians 1:2 (KJV) Too Much Grace?

Philippians 1:2 (KJV)

Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

I was thinking about how often the epistles begin—and sometimes end—with words like these. I’ve preached on several of these similar verses and meditated on them during my daily visits with God many times. It struck me: how often should I take the time to meditate on them, write about them, and study their context and content?

And then I thought—probably as often as the Word of God brings them up. Maybe even more.

Grace be unto you.
Can we ever have too much of God’s grace? Can we pray too often for others to experience His grace?

And peace.
I’m looking around our world today. California is in an uproar with riots and burning cars—and their governor calls it “peaceful protest.” Recently, I read that twenty-one governors, all democrats, have protested the President’s federalizing of National Guard units to help control the riots.

I believe the unrest in our world—the lack of peace—is directly tied to a lack of peace with and from God our Father. Those who are at enmity with God (and we all are, before salvation, surrender, and sanctification) instinctively feel this unrest, this unease, this war between the flesh and the Spirit of God.

And so they fight.
Often, they don’t even know what they’re fighting.

But they fight.

We could never have too much “peace, from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.”

And we could never pray too often that others come to know that peace.
