Hebrews 5:10 (KJV)

Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.

I’m thinking right now of Philippians 2:6-7 (KJV):
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.

Our Saviour is completely and fully God. He is co-eternal, co-equal—100% absolutely God.

Colossians 2:9 (KJV):
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

And yet, He “made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.”

Now we discover here that the office of the priesthood is not one men may take upon themselves. It is a call of God, an appointment of divine order—or else it is apostasy. Jesus, who is absolute God, humbled Himself, took upon Himself the form of a man, and, among other things, submitted to the call of His Father to be an high priest.

The blending and melding together of God and man—on behalf of and in the stead of fallen men—is doctrine beyond ourselves, “hard to be uttered,” and incomprehensible to those who are “dull of hearing.” But it is the truth we preach, the only access to eternal salvation.
