Deuteronomy 7:4 (KJV) One God, No Compromise

Deuteronomy 7:4 (KJV)

For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.

Notice God’s objection to mixed marriages with those of other lands and religions.

  • He wasn’t concerned about race.
  • He wasn’t concerned about color.

God’s concern was that such unions would turn His people away from following Him, leading them to serve other gods.

God is jealous. And He is the only One who can justly be jealous because:

  1. He is the only true and living God.
  2. He is concerned for the souls of men.

His jealousy isn’t selfish; it is motivated by His care for men and women. His heart’s desire is not merely for those who already believe, but also for those who do not. He desires that people of all nations, kindreds, tribes, and tongues turn from idols and serve Him. Ultimately, His will is that souls everywhere be saved.

That will never be accomplished through compromise, acceptance, or ignoring the difference between false gods and the living God.

I do not advocate hatred toward anyone. No one should be forced to practice a faith they do not believe in, nor should anyone be persecuted for the faith they do or do not practice. (I will add this caveat: if their faith or lack thereof brings harm to others, if it is morally corrupt and injurious, then it must be restrained.)

But the true Christian must understand the principle of separation. To yoke together with unbelievers (including those who claim another faith) is to turn away from the living God, to serve other gods, and ultimately to lead souls to damnation in hell.

Those who disagree with this do so because they do not, in fact, believe the God of the Bible.

One God, No Compromise: When Yoked Wrong, Faith Stumbles

🔥 God’s Word is clear—compromise with false gods leads hearts away from Him. Deuteronomy 7:4 reminds us that separation isn’t about hate, but about faithfulness to the one true and living God.
