From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.
The big talk right now is about the peace President Trump was able to broker in the war between Israel and the Palestinians in Gaza. I’m thankful that the living hostages were returned and that this particular war has paused. But the truth remains — there will be no lasting peace in that region because this is not merely a war against Israel; it is a war against God.
God gave His people a land that stretches from the Mediterranean Sea to the Euphrates River — that’s all the way to modern-day Iran! Their borders run from Egypt in the south to Lebanon and Syria in the north. Much of that land is now occupied by those who worship Allah instead of the true and living God.
Here’s the truth: the Palestinians and others occupying that land fight not simply because of politics or territory. They fight because they reject the God who gave that land to Israel. They do not accept His judgments. They do not love His standards of holiness. Like Cain, they resent those who walk in obedience to God. In Israel’s case, they especially hate that God chose them to bring forth the Savior of the world.
War in that part of the world will continue until the final battle in the valley of Megiddo, when Jesus Christ will return and defeat all who fight against God.
The good news is that anyone can be delivered from this strife. It only requires surrender to Christ.
