Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
I believe Jesus is speaking here of the Jews as a nation. He came to them. He walked among them.
- They ate meals with Him.
- They heard His messages.
- They watched His miracles.
But they did not accept Him as Saviour.
Privilege is not the same as salvation.
In our context, we might apply this to those who’ve grown up in a Christian country—or even more personally, those raised in a Christian home.
- They attended services weekly.
- They sat in Sunday school classes.
- They ate at church potlucks.
- They sat shoulder to shoulder with Christian children—played with them, sang with them.
But the Christian experience itself isn’t what saves anyone. We are not saved by osmosis or by rubbing shoulders with the saved (though it surely gives one a better opportunity than otherwise).
The redeemed have but one thing in common: they know Jesus.
Do you know Jesus?

Church Seats Don’t Save Souls: Knowing About Jesus Isn’t Knowing Him
π¬ Do you know Jesus—or just know about Him?
It’s easy to grow up surrounded by church, sermons, and Scripture and still miss the one thing that matters most: a personal relationship with Christ. Privilege isn’t salvation. Being in the presence of truth doesn’t make us saved—believing in the Truth Himself does.
π What about you? Have you ever personally trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour? Comment “I have” or “I want to know more” below—let’s talk about what real salvation means.
